Overview
Hydrogen transport and storage in power-2-gas power plant
Systems for leak detection and custody transfer
KROHNE has taken a major role in providing instrumentation for today’s hydrogen projects, from production via transportation until its storage and use. Hydrogen is an important key in the energy transition but unlike other gases much more difficult to handle and to control. Hydrogen is highly explosive, can diffuse through metal and seals, and causes material embrittlement. KROHNE is experienced in supplying instrumentation for hydrogen applications and has a proven track record in this industry.
ALTOSONIC V12 ultrasonic custody transfer flow meters, built according to MI-002 and calibrated for hydrogen, have been installed in hydrogen pipelines. The OPTIMASS 6400 Coriolis mass flow meter and the OPTISONIC 7300 ultrasonic gas flow meters have been used for hydrogen processing on plant. H250 VA meters are suitable for hydrogen, particularly for monitoring analyser flows. OPTIBAR DP 7060 Differential pressure transmitters, specially supplied with gold coated diaphragm process seals, are available for monitoring hydrogen pressures up to 700 bar.
